The survey was conducted only in water that is 200m deep or greater. Most of the survey was conducted in waters between 1,000 and 3,000m deep. The seismic survey was to collect up to 5,000km of two-dimensional (2-D) geophysical data (not more than 1,000km in each of the five blocks). ESF Consultants was retained to provide environmental and socio economic assessment for its seismic survey program to explore for hydrocarbon resources in waters offshore Kenya in Blocks L-05, -07, -12, -11A and -11B. ESF collected baseline environmental conditions including terrestrial and marine environment identify significant environmental or social conditions that required consideration with regards to potential impacts.
