ESF Consultants Limited was commissioned to undertake Social Impact Assessment of the proposed Kalukundi Copper and Cobalt Mine in DRC. The study was prepared to satisfy both Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Government regulations and International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards (PS). The study was to assess potential social consequences of the mining operation including impacts on quality of life, health, employment, safety, population, income, livelihoods, aesthetics, cultural resources and socio-economic environment among other conditions for the proposed Kalukundi Copper and Cobalt Project (Kalukundi concession) to be undertaken by Africo Resources Limited (ARL). The study scope covered project-environment interactions during planning, construction, operation and after closure of the mine.
